As a MIG Solutions Analyst, you will provide support to the MIG Solutions Senior Manager and MIG Solutions Managers in delivering innovative legal technology solutions that drive efficiency and enhance client service and operational support. The Markets Innovation Group (MIG) is dedicated to winning large-scale strategic mandates and develop innovative solutions to client problems.
MIG is organised differently to the rest of A&O Shearman with different expectations:
- a roaming group of lawyers and tech professionals who are not aligned by practice group
- based in the USA and UK with their core team based in London
- expected to be creative in the context of a specific market opportunity−integrated with a development team who work alongside the lawyers in the same office space
- expected to engage our broader Advanced Delivery & Solutions business where relevant to the solution
MIG also takes an R&D approach to solving client challenges:
- creating solutions absent initial client engagement
- in some cases, we invest heavily, with the aim of winning extremely large projects from the market
What you will do
The MIG Solutions Analyst's primary purpose is to support the MIG Solutions Senior Manager and MIG Solutions Managers in delivering innovative legal technology solutions that drive efficiency and enhance client service and operational support. As the MIG Tech Solutions Analyst progresses in their role, they will be expected to develop solutions, identify efficiencies and become a key technical contact. This new role is especially exciting because of its unique hybrid nature, which encompasses both technical and non-technical elements. This dual focus provides a dynamic and varied work experience that is both challenging and rewarding.
The role will include the following:
- Developing a deep expertise on the technologies in the MIG toolbox, including ContractMatrix, HighQ, Power Platform, Contract Express and others
- Developing and implementing internal and client-facing legal tech solutions using available technologies (e.g. low code/no code)
- Keeping up to date and maintaining a good understanding of new functionality releases of key MIG technologies
- Providing high quality operational support within the MIG team, such as liaising with different AOS teams and with Clients
- Supporting and responding to mailbox activities, e.g. BAU Support on Client solutions
- Creating and maintaining documentation
- Deploying solutions and delivering user training and demos on live/new products
- Assisting with troubleshooting technical issues
- Developing integrations using workflow technologies (e.g. power automate/logic apps)
- Being a key technical contact for the support, creation, deployment and maintenance of MIG solutions
- Providing support on the design and architecture of MIG solutions
- Creating and testing new technologies to identify potential use cases for Client solutions
- Providing support on pilots of new tools to identify the viability of the product
- Being a trusted, reliable and knowledgeable member of the MIG team
What you will have
- Good understanding of technical concepts, e.g. APIs, relational databases and integrations
- Able to read and access technical documentation
- Experience working with Power Platform, e.g. Power Automate and Power Apps
- Highly desirable to have experience with low code platforms such as Mendix
- Competent ability to read and write code, particularly in JavaScript and C#.
- Desirable to have experience in building solutions across legal technology tools such as HighQ
- Good at problem solving
- Demonstrable technical background/qualifications
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Possess a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
- Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication in person, by email, and telephone with professionalism and diplomacy
- Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new applications quickly
- Must be open to travel to London on a regular basis, and other locations when required for business travel
