Job Overview
Are you looking for a career move that will put you at the heart of a global financial institution?
By Joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.
Role Overview:
Citi is seeking a Vice President to join the Markets Financial Crimes Risk team, where you will lead Anti-Money Laundering (AML) risk management activities across the Sales and Trading business. In this role, you will assess and mitigate AML risks, drive control enhancements, and manage regulatory and audit commitments that directly strengthen Citi's first-line control environment. Partnering with senior stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Internal Audit, you will independently lead complex initiatives that shape how AML risk is managed within one of the world's leading global financial institutions.
What you'll be doing:
- Assess AML risks and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls across Markets businesses to identify gaps and drive measurable improvements.
- Design and implement AML control enhancements and risk mitigation strategies that strengthen the first-line control environment.
- Lead corrective action plans and issue remediation programmes, ensuring milestones are met and outcomes are sustainable.
- Manage cross-functional initiatives tied to regulatory commitments, audit findings, and internal risk management objectives.
- Conduct policy reviews and gap assessments to ensure alignment with internal standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and track remediation activities for regulatory findings, audit observations, and identified control gaps through to resolution.
- Prepare and present materials for governance forums, working groups, and senior management discussions.
- Represent Markets during Internal Audit reviews and validation exercises, providing clear and well-supported responses to findings.
- Significant experience in AML, Financial Crimes Risk, Compliance, Operational Risk, or a related control function within financial services.
- Deep knowledge of AML regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks, and control environments relevant to capital markets or banking.
- Demonstrated experience managing issue remediation, corrective action plans, and regulatory or audit commitments through to successful closure.
- Ability to assess risks, identify control gaps, and design solutions that are practical, effective, and sustainable over time.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables across functions and geographies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting complex risk topics clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across business lines and control functions without direct authority.
- Experience working directly with Sales and Trading or Markets businesses in a risk or control capacity.
- Background managing regulatory examinations, audit validations, Matters Requiring Attention (MRAs), or comparable remediation programmes.
- Familiarity with global AML regulations, internal policy frameworks, and financial crimes governance processes.
- Experience representing a business or control function in senior governance forums and executive-level management meetings.
