The role:

This role forms part of a team, and The accountant will have responsibility for a range key functions including supervision of a small team of book-keeping and accounting staff. The accountant will also have responsibility for a range of functions. Your main duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing a team of staff to plan, organise and coordinate the provision of effective financial services

  • Supporting the Senior Finance Office Management team in effectively management of the finance office and maintaining a positive work environment

  • Preparing monthly prepayments and accrual journals

  • Assisting senior accountants in the production of monthly general ledger control account reconciliation

  • Admin of the monthly internal management accounting process (running budget reports, analysing expenditure variance)

  • Producing high quality financial information for internal and external stakeholders including monthly management accounts with variance analysis

  • Admin and maintenance of accounts payable purchase ordering system, access control and updating financial information

  • Providing quality assurance for the work of the team ensuring information is accurate and compliant with current legislation for HMRC best practise

  • Maintaining current understanding of public sector accounting requirements under IFRS

The Person:

As the successful candidate, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Have successfully passed final professional examinations from a relevant professional accountancy body

  • At least 1 years’ experience gained in the last 5 years of preparing financial/management accounts for a public, commercial or voluntary sector organisation in accordance with IFRS regime

  • Experience using Microsoft office packages (including MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • At least 1 years experience gained in the last five years monitoring budgets and reporting on allocation of resources for a public, commercial or voluntary sector organisation

The Rewards:

  • £41,020 per annum

  • PLUS £4,550 salary supplement p.a.
