Date: 1 hour ago
City: Belfast
Contract type: Full time
Aston Charles Ltd

We are delighted to be partnering with this world-leading insurance broking organisation that is seeking a talented Corporate Account Handler to join its highly successful Belfast office.

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the global insurance market, where you'll benefit from dealing with a fascinating array of corporate clients, as well as enjoying exceptional training and long-term career development opportunities.

One of the biggest attractions of this role is the sheer variety and complexity of the accounts you'll be involved with. Unlike many Account Handling positions in the local market, where you may be restricted to dealing with relatively straightforward commercial risks, this position will give you exposure to a much broader range of interesting and prestigious clients. These could include businesses operating within sectors such as technology, manufacturing, construction, waste management, wholesaling, charities and property ownership, amongst many others.

Working closely with experienced Account Executives, you'll play an important role in the servicing and renewal of these accounts, helping to ensure that clients receive the highest standards of technical advice and service. You'll be involved in the preparation of renewals, negotiating with insurers, handling mid-term adjustments and providing day-to-day support across a wide range of commercial insurance classes.

Importantly, this isn't a position where you'll simply be sitting behind a desk processing paperwork. The company actively encourages its Account Handlers to accompany Account Executives on client visits, giving you the opportunity to meet clients, see their operations first-hand and develop a much deeper understanding of the risks you're helping to insure. This is a fantastic way to broaden your technical knowledge and develop the skills required to progress your career.

“We don't do short-term here.”

That's the message from the Head of the Belfast office, and it perhaps sums up the company's approach to its people better than anything else.

This is an organisation that genuinely takes a long-term view when it comes to developing its employees. It invests heavily in both internal and external training, encourages people to broaden their knowledge and provides a wealth of opportunities for those who want to progress.

Whether your longer-term ambitions involve moving into a client-facing Account Executive position, progressing into management or developing your career within another specialist area of the business, you'll be joining an organisation with the scale, resources and commitment to help you achieve your goals.

Just as importantly, you'll be joining a stable, friendly and supportive office where there's a genuine team-player ethos. The atmosphere is collaborative, with colleagues working closely together and supporting one another, and the company is keen to recruit someone who shares these values and wants to become a valued, long-term member of the team.

We're keen to hear from experienced Commercial Account Handlers who have a good working knowledge of the major commercial insurance classes. Whilst previous experience of handling larger corporate accounts would certainly be advantageous, this is by no means essential. Indeed, this could be an ideal opportunity for someone currently handling SME or mid-market commercial business who feels ready to take the next step and develop their expertise within the corporate insurance market.

Crucially, you'll have a strong desire to learn, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a genuine commitment to providing outstanding service to clients. You'll be comfortable working as part of a team, have a proactive approach to your work and relish the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge by dealing with larger and more complex risks.

The company operates a hybrid-working arrangement, with employees spending three days per week in its Belfast office and the remainder working from home.

You'll be rewarded with an attractive basic salary, negotiable depending on experience, together with an excellent package of corporate benefits.
