Department: Data & Analytics

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a growing Data & Analytics function in Belfast. The ideal candidate will have around 5-6+ years' experience in Data Engineering or a related role, with strong experience across SQL, ETL and Microsoft data technologies. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your work and translating business requirements into practical technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Develop data ingestion processes across multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Build and maintain data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Work with Microsoft Fabric to develop and manage modern data solutions.
  • Develop and optimise solutions using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Support reporting and analytics requirements, including SSIS and SSRS.
  • Work with tools such as Fivetran and Alteryx to support data integration and transformation.
  • Ensure data is accurate, reliable, secure and available for business use.
  • Support potential data migration and legacy system transformation projects.
  • Apply good data modelling and warehousing practices, including dimensional modelling.
  • Work closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and business stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and support knowledge sharing.
  • Follow appropriate data governance, security and access-control standards.
Essential Experience
  • 5-6+ years' experience in Data Engineering, BI Engineering or a closely related role.
  • Strong hands-on SQL experience, ideally with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern cloud data platforms.
  • Experience with SSIS and/or SSRS.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and/or data lakes.
  • Understanding of data modelling and database design.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data solutions across Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams.
Desirable Experience
  • Python for data engineering or pipeline development.
  • Fivetran, Alteryx or dbt.
  • Data migration from legacy platforms or systems.
  • Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience supporting finance, reporting or commercially focused data requirements.
  • Relevant cloud or data engineering certifications.
The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a data-focused team where you'll have genuine ownership of the data engineering function, working across modern Microsoft technologies and supporting the continued development of the organisation's data platform.

If you're an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving practical data problems and building reliable pipelines and infrastructure, we'd be keen to hear from you.
