Defence Insurance Associate | Personal Injury | 2–5 Years’ PQE

Belfast | Hybrid Working (2 Days Office / 3 Days Home)

If you’re a personal injury solicitor with between two and five years’ PQE and are keen to develop your career in defence insurance litigation, this is an opportunity to join a growing team handling a wide range of challenging and fast-moving claims. Based in Belfast, the role offers varied litigation work, regular court exposure and the chance to take ownership within a collaborative and supportive team.

The role

As an Associate in the defence insurance team, you’ll handle a broad range of personal injury litigation matters, predominantly acting for insurers and self-insured organisations. You’ll manage your own caseload with appropriate support, appear in court and assist on more complex matters alongside senior colleagues.

The role includes investigating claims, taking witness statements, reviewing medical evidence, drafting pleadings and client advice, managing reporting and reserving requirements and progressing files in line with court timetables and client SLAs. You’ll also support partners with client relationships, business development activity and wider team initiatives.

About you

This role would suit a Solicitor who:

• Has 2–5 years’ PQE, ideally with experience in personal injury litigation
• Has an interest in defence insurance work (prior insurer experience is helpful but not essential)
• Is comfortable dealing with complex legal issues and varied caseloads
• Communicates clearly with clients and colleagues
• Is organised, proactive and commercially aware
• Enjoys working as part of a fast-paced, team-focused environment

Court experience would be an advantage.
