Civil AutoCAD Technician

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil AutoCAD Technician to join a leading global consultancy in Belfast, working across civil engineering, sustainable water resources management, and physical infrastructure development. Owing to recent project awards and continued growth, the company is seeking a motivated Civil AutoCad Technician to support the delivery of design solutions on a permanent basis.

The role will suit a candidate looking to develop their career within a collaborative engineering environment, with the support of experienced Chartered Engineers who can provide mentoring and encourage progression toward Technician Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers. You will contribute to a range of civil engineering design activities and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities as Civil AutoCad Technician:

  • Prepare conceptual, schematic and detailed design solutions for a variety of civil engineering projects
  • Produce and revise 2D AutoCAD drawings to support project delivery
  • Liaise and coordinate with in-house design team members, colleagues in other offices, and external consultants
  • Attend design team meetings and client liaison meetings as required
  • Assist in the preparation of drawing lists, programmes, specifications and progress reports
  • Use Microsoft Office software to support documentation and reporting activities
  • Work collaboratively with site supervisory resources to ensure effective project coordination
  • Support the wider Civil Engineering Team in delivering design outputs to required deadlines and standards

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience as Civil AutoCad Technician

  • A third level qualification in a related discipline such as Civil Engineering
  • 1-3 years' postgraduate industry experience
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD
  • Experience with Civil 3D or BIM would be desirable, though training can be provided
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong teamworking and coordination skills
  • Good communication skills for working with colleagues, consultants and clients
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to develop within a professional engineering environment
