Principal Legal Officer

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is currently recruiting several Principal Legal Officers on behalf of a leading public sector legal organisation in Belfast.

These exciting opportunities offer experienced solicitors and barristers the chance to work across a variety of specialist legal areas, including advisory, litigation, public law, legislative drafting, regulatory matters, and policy development.

• Belfast City Centre
• £32.05 per hour
• 37-hour working week
• Hybrid working available
• Monday to Friday

Litigation and Judicial Review proceedings
Public and Administrative Law
Legislative drafting and statutory interpretation

Insolvency and Appellate Proceedings
Environmental and Agricultural Law
Windsor Framework and EU Law implementation
Regulatory and Policy Advisory Work

What You'll Do

• Provide specialist legal advice to public sector clients
  * Manage complex and varied caseloads
  * Draft legal documents, pleadings, instructions, and advisory opinions
  * Support legislative and policy development processes
  * Represent and advise clients in litigation and court proceedings where required
  * Deliver practical, risk-based legal solutions to support strategic decision-making

Essential Criteria

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practise in Northern Ireland
  * Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience
  * Strong legal advisory, drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  * Ability to manage complex legal issues and work effectively with a range of stakeholders

Desirable Experience

• Public sector or government advisory work
  * Litigation and advocacy
  * Legislative or regulatory work
  * Public law and administrative law
  * Local government, housing, social security, charities, environmental, agricultural, or EU law
