INTEGRATED LOGISTICS SUPPORT TECHNICAL LEAD: IAS UK

DESCRIPTION OF JOB

The jobholder will report to the Head of ILS - IAS UK, supporting and assisting them to ensure the effective delivery of ILS tasks/deliverables within the IAS business.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the HOILS, IAS UK.
  • Maintains technical oversight of ILS deliverables for the IAS ILS team and has delegated sign off for the HOILS.
  • Attends technical/design reviews on behalf of the HOILS when required.
  • Mentors the Junior Engineers as required and works with the HOILS to ensure effective development of the ILS team, identifying potential gaps with software/tooling requirements, specialist skills etc.
  • Aids the HOILS in implementing the standardization of the ILS working practices to align with the SCC ways of working.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and aids in their implementation.
  • Responsible for the preparation of ILS workbook estimates for bids, and/or technical oversight of junior ILS Engineers workbooks, for approval by HOILS.
  • Ownership of designated ILS work package budgets and schedules and responsible for attending associated Work Package Reviews and Risk reviews.


KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrable experience of planning and delivering practical ILS/Supportability engineering requirements across the full design lifecycle from concept to disposal.
  • Depth of knowledge covering ILS, reliability, maintainability & availability principles using defined Standards, guidelines and tools and an ability to apply these cost-effectively
  • Demonstrable experience in this or an equivalent engineering discipline, including time spent in a leadership role.
  • Good team player, with strong communication skills and ability to influence key stake holders at all levels.


DESIRABLE

  • 5 plus years working as an ILS Engineer in the Defence Industry
  • Engineering/Science degree or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer, Membership of relevant professional institute
