Allied Mills is part of Associated British Foods and operates seven modern flour milling units across three production sites in Belfast, Manchester and Tilbury. We are also one of a very limited number of businesses able to produce semolina from Durum wheat in one of our specialist mills. Allied Mills is the UK’s third largest miller and mills wheat for everything from bread to bagels, baguettes and biscuits, pasties to pastries, doughnuts, cookies, burger buns and pizzas, naan bread and chapattis, noodles and pasta. Overview Of Role

Location: Belfast

Responsible for the Health, Safety and welfare of all site based personnel and ensuring that the OHS Management system requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the OHSAS 18001:2007 Reporting of and performance against OHS Management system available for presentation to the Senior Management Team and to be used as a basis for continual improvement of the OHS Management system.

Work closely with the Site Leadership Team on the development and delivery of annual site tactical plan to deliver agreed annual business objectives and develop, implement and maintain systems for ensuring objectives are met.

Key Accountabilities

  • Senior site representative with direct line management for all site functions
  • Responsible for the Health, Safety and welfare of all site based personnel and ensuring that the OHS Management system requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the OHSAS 18001:2007
  • Reporting of and performance against OHS Management system available for presentation to the Senior Management Team and to be used as a basis for continual improvement of the OHS Management system.
  • Work closely with the Site Leadership Team on the development and delivery of annual site tactical plan to deliver agreed annual business objectives and develop, implement and maintain systems for ensuring objectives are met.
  • Delivery of site KPIs against agreed targets
  • Overall site budget responsibility of £5m
  • Identification, justification and delivery of site CAPEX expenditure
  • Benchmark and share best practice across all sites
  • Work closely with the commercial team to ensure customer requirements are met on time, in full and in accordance with AM QFFS standards.
  • Identify, manage communicate risk in any and all aspects of business both within and without scope of responsibility
  • Advocate for all and any ESG directives to ensure a safe, compliant, inclusive and sustainable business and culture

The Right Person

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading and embedding organisational culture development initiatives, creating high-performing, collaborative and values-driven teams.
  • Demonstrable skills in shaping site-wide engagement strategies to drive behavioural change and support long-term cultural transformation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to align operational excellence with business objectives. Experienced in contributing to commercial strategy, budget ownership and investment planning to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Evidence of driving efficiencies, cost control and KPI delivery
  • Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge EXCEL/WORD/AM systems
  • Five years experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Qualification, HNC/D or degree level equivalent HACCP Qualification preferred.
  • IOSH Managing Safety Certificate or equivalent
  • UKFM Milling qualifications desirable
  • Highly motivated, determined and enthusiastic, with strong leadership and inclusive team building qualities.
  • A natural problem solver with the ability to organise self and others to deliver pragmatic solutions and results.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with all key stakeholders with a strong customer focus
  • Attention to detail and a thorough approach; even when operating under pressure.
  • Ability to lead teams through change, maintaining team engagement
  • Role models and enforces our culture, ensuring values are embedded in all that we do
  • Drives high performance the right way, as a safe, people-focused, values-led, sustainable business
