Human Resources Officer - Public Sector Organisation - Temporary Contract
Location: Belfast
Hours: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Contract Type: 6-Month Temporary Contract (with possibility of extension)
Are you an organised and proactive HR professional looking for your next opportunity? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation for a Human Resources Officer to join their team on a 6-month temporary basis, with the potential for extension based on business needs.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a supportive HR team and gain further experience within a large, structured organisation known for high standards and public service values.
The Role:
As Human Resources Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused HR service. You'll provide support across the HR function, managing administrative and advisory responsibilities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver efficient administrative support to HR management and internal teams
Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures in line with best practice
Provide first-line advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures to staff and managers
Organise diaries, prepare reports, and arrange meetings, interviews, and documentation
Handle internal and external enquiries in a professional and confidential manner
Support compliance with information governance standards, including GDPR
Maintain records using HR systems and ensure timely processing of changes
Raise purchase requisitions using the e-procurement system and manage stock orders
Attend and minute meetings when required
Uphold organisational policies including equality, health & safety, and information management
Participate in ongoing personal development and contribute to service improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must meet one of the following:
A minimum of 2 A-Levels (or equivalent or higher qualification) and at least 18 months of relevant experience, including one year in a Human Resources environment,
OR
A minimum of three years' relevant experience, to include one year in a Human Resources environment
Additionally, candidates must have:
Minimum of one year's experience using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) in a work setting
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
A proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience working within a public sector or healthcare organisation
