Job Overview


VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation, who are seeking to appoint a Communications & Engagement Executive, who will contribute to the effective delivery of public engagement and communications for their major network infrastructure programme.

  • Belfast - Hybrid (2 days at home)

  • Fixed term contract


Key Responsibilities:



  • Represent the organisation in dealings with communities, officials, media, and key partners.

  • Support the rollout of communication plans, including outreach, media, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Coordinate with agencies and partner firms on campaign delivery.

  • Develop and implement consultation strategies with internal teams.

  • Organise public events, produce consultation summaries, and manage digital platforms.

  • Handle local press relations and run targeted social media activity.

  • Help refine engagement approaches for various stakeholder groups.

  • Assist in broader corporate communication tasks as needed.

  • Share responsibility for handling urgent out-of-hours communications.


Essential Criteria:



  • At least one year's experience in a similar role, or three years' relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Degree in a related field such as communications, planning, politics, or journalism (if not meeting experience criteria).

  • Skilled in creating persuasive content to support specific projects or campaigns.

  • Strong organisational, planning, and coordination skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.

  • Basic knowledge of the energy or infrastructure sectors.

  • Keen interest in community engagement and development.

  • Full, clean driving licence.
