AI and Responsible AI are exciting, and emerging fields, we are looking for a person with experience in Responsible AI processes, who has the ability to guide our people and customers on trust, safety and ethics. Ideally, we want you to have a strong technical background but this is desirable criteria, so you are still strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

As Head of Responsible AI you will be the subject matter expert in Responsible AI, the dimensions of the role are as follows:

  • Shape, lead and over time evolve the vision in the Responsible AI & Data space, maximising the commercial opportunities for Kainos.
  • Shows strong external thought leadership, publishing and representing Kainos’s views on AI Trust, Safety and Ethics, in public forums, conferences and industry groups supporting our data and Responsible AI agenda, promoting the Kainos brand.
  • Follow the latest standards, regional legislation and practices, anticipating the internal and external drivers for change and ensuring that Kainos is prepared to respond to these.
  • Create, tailor and deliver Responsible AI services for our customers, operationalising ethics, safety, governance, risk assessment frameworks.
  • Lead and nurture a team to promote great Responsible AI practices across Kainos, customer and internal projects.

Minimum (essential) Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing Responsible AI processes and practices, navigating difficult areas and leading change.
  • Able to identify and challenge un-safe, un-ethical or illegal approaches in a co-operative way, helping resolve any potential issues.
  • Experience in operationalising AI ethical principles such as safety, transparency, fairness, accountability & contestability.
  • Able to simplify and clearly communicate trust concerns in conversation, documentation and presentations to non-technical stakeholders including C-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage, coach and develop colleagues and wider community in trust, safety and ethics.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, to manage delivery of complex outcomes.

Desirable

  • In depth knowledge of frameworks such as EU AI Act/ ISO42001 and other relevant frameworks
  • Experience of AI delivery challenges, e.g. AI/ML service, AI guardrails
  • Can prioritise non-functional concerns for customers and has experience incorporating these into the application design.
  • Experience of AI policy/strategy development.
  • Experience in shaping solutions for customers in a consulting setting.
