Senior Data Engineer

Location: UK-based only

Eligibility: UK work authorisation required (no sponsorship available)

At OCHO, we’re supporting a fast-growing product-led company on a mission to centralise and transform its enterprise data capability. They’re building a new cloud-native data platform from the ground up — and they need a Senior Data Engineer to lead the charge.

If you thrive in high-impact roles and want the freedom to shape architecture, influence standards, and work across modern stacks, this is one of those rare “build it properly from day one” opportunities.

Why join?

  • Design from scratch: Help shape a modern enterprise data warehouse — one source of truth, built with flexibility and scale in mind.

  • Impact, not red tape: Work in a low-ego, delivery-first team. You’ll be trusted to get on with it.

  • Data culture: Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product teams to solve real-world data problems — the kind that matter.

  • Full ownership: Architect solutions, lead on design patterns, mentor others — and influence the long-term direction of the platform.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing and implementing scalable, cloud-based data pipelines (ETL/ELT)

  • Building dimensional models using Kimball, data mesh or data vault methodologies

  • Creating reusable data components and defining best practices across ingestion, transformation and integration

  • Working closely with analysts, engineers and product teams to surface high-value, trustworthy datasets

  • Ensuring data quality through automation, testing and documentation

  • Acting as a technical leader and mentor within the platform team

What you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years' experience writing complex SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MSSQL etc.)

  • 3+ years working with Python or PowerShell in data engineering environments

  • Experience integrating data from APIs (REST, SOAP)

  • Hands-on experience with DBT, Snowflake, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native tools

  • Strong data modelling chops and a practical grasp of cloud architecture patterns

  • A collaborative, delivery-focused mindset with a strong sense of initiative

  • Based in the UK and eligible to work without sponsorship
