VANRATH is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading, innovative global payments company for the role of Data Operations Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and build a new Data Operations function, playing a central role in delivering modern data capabilities that will drive business growth and transformation.
This is a fully remote position, offering the chance to work alongside highly skilled and collaborative teams - delivering robust, scalable data solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.
The Role
In this role, you will design and deploy modern data architectures that deliver high-value insights from a wide range of data sources. You'll collaborate daily with cross-functional teams (engineers, analysts, product managers) to ensure the stability, performance, and quality of a next-generation data platform - supporting critical business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop automated, high-performance data pipelines and transformation processes
Implement and maintain data quality controls, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and platform performance, ensuring high availability
Lead Level 1 and 2 support; coordinate Level 3 support with internal teams
Automate operational tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual work
Develop operational playbooks, standards, and best practices for data management
Support users across the business in accessing and utilising the data platform
Implement and maintain integrations between cloud and on-premises data services
Recommend long-term solutions to improve platform stability and supportability
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in data operations and business processes
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
5+ years of advanced SQL experience (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, etc.)
3+ years of experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell)
3+ years of experience with data quality management and issue resolution
2+ years of experience with cloud DW/ETL solutions (e.g., Snowflake, DBT)
Experience in Agile delivery environments
Strong understanding of cloud concepts and data platform infrastructure
Experience with automation, testing and monitoring of data platforms
Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
Proactive and self-motivated, with a track record of owning deliverables end-to-end
