The Staff Engineer - IAM Governance provides high-level guidance and technical expertise across a broad range of Identity & Access Management (IAM) activities and initiatives. This role will improve governance processes, oversee the implementation of technical solutions to ensure adherence to IAM standards, procedures, and audit requirements. Specifically this role will assist in maturing the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) program, educate teams on IAM processes, help other teams align with IAM Technical standards, provide support for access certifications, and act as a liaison to communicate between the US & India team. They will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate documentation and analysis of requirements, solution design, development, testing, and production deployment. They can effectively run multiple projects simultaneously, requiring input from various levels of stakeholders, that provide consistent results which meet organizational standards for delivery and quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Advancing the RBAC program through data analysis and outreach to create and update roles to meet the needs of our business users, with the aim of reducing time associated with requesting and reviewing access.
- Interfacing with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate documenting and analysis of requirements, solution design, development, testing, and Production deployment.
- Focus on process improvements via innovative methods to assist in the automation of manual tasks.
- Monitor and support day-to-day operations related to system performance, functionality, and end user queries.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, participate in on-call rotation/DR Test, and develop solutions and processes to eliminate off hours support calls.
- Expected to be a key contributor in roadmap development to advance the IAM Governance program and add continuous value for our user community.
- Work with the Line of Business (LOB) Partners to manage identity lifecycle and access governance activities including developing, maintaining, and facilitating the socialization of IAM policy standards, processes, and procedures
- Maintain end-to-end governance processes across the IAM space with aligned controls and metrics to evaluate control effectiveness
- Provide subject matter support for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with IT standards.
- Assist subject matter experts with the coordination and response to regulatory, audit, and compliance requests. This may include the entirety of the issue lifecycle e.g., development of issues, establishing action plans and producing required evidence aligned to action steps, as well as thematic review of the issue portfolio.
- Additionally, the ideal candidate will have an understanding of financial regulations and a proven ability to apply them to complex situations
Minimum requirements: knowledge, skills and abilities:
- 5-7 years developing and implementing IAM governance processes at a large/international enterprise, preferably in financial services or other highly regulated industry
- Subject matter expert for core IGA capabilities: Identity Lifecycle Management, Access Management, Identity Governance, Access Certification, and RBAC/ABAC/PBAC.
- Advanced skillset in collaboration and can lead team-oriented projects effectively without the need for guidance or support across all situations.
- Strong familiarity with security issues surrounding Identity Access Management and experience in implementation of security systems and controls. Must have a deep knowledge of security components, principles, practices, and procedures.
- Experience planning, researching and developing security strategies, standards, and procedures.
- Experience with identity lifecycle management and access management technologies
- Understanding of information security components, principles, practices, and procedures
- Ability to conduct data analytics, resulting in actionable insights
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, as well as IAM-specific laws, rules, and regulations within the financial services sector
- 2 - 3 years managing cross-functional projects preferred

Formal Education & Certification:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related discipline
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, SSCP, Security+, etc.) or advanced degree
