Location: Belfast (Hybrid - 3 days in-office / 2 days remote)

VANRATH is delighted to be partnering with SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland) to recruit an Energy Markets Analytics Manager- a high-impact leadership role central to the future of Northern Ireland's energy transition.

As the Energy Markets Analytics Lead, you'll manage a team of skilled analysts delivering key insights to shape electricity market design, regulatory strategy, and system transformation. Their focus is not only on system reliability but also on shaping the electricity market of tomorrow through collaboration, innovation, and data-driven strategy. This role is a strategic addition to their Future Power Markets team, supporting the delivery of SONI's Shaping Our Electricity Future road-map.

• Lead and manage a team of analysts focused on electricity market design, regulatory analysis, and future system modelling.




• Deliver market and policy insights to support key programmes across SONI and the wider EirGrid Group.




• Engage with stakeholders including government, regulators, TSOs, and industry participants to support collaborative market development.




• Plan and deliver strategic analytics projects, producing reports and recommendations to guide SONI's future market position.




• Ensure project delivery is aligned with compliance, transparency, and stakeholder needs.




• Mentor junior analysts and build internal capability through knowledge sharing and coaching.




• Provide technical support across market integration, balancing arrangements, and cross-border initiatives.

Essential Criteria:

• A relevant third-level qualification (e.g. engineering, economics, or energy systems) and 8+ years' experience in a commercial or regulated environment.




• Proven track record in managing teams and complex projects with competing priorities.




• Deep understanding of electricity market structures, system planning, and market operations.




• Strong analytical skills with experience in modelling, scenario planning, and policy analysis.




• Ability to lead stakeholder engagement, present findings clearly, and influence decision-making.




• Strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership skills.

Desirable:

• Experience working within the Single Electricity Market (SEM) or European power markets.




• Knowledge of market/network codes, balancing and transmission mechanisms.




• Background in a regulated utility or energy organisation.




• Project management experience across multi-disciplinary programmes.
