VanRath

Our client is looking for a proactive and technically capable System Support Engineer to play a key role in the deployment, configuration, and ongoing support of their innovative digital and hardware-based solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on with complex systems while supporting a diverse customer base through remote and on-site interventions.

The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, detail-oriented, and confident operating in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment. You'll work closely with local engineers, global teams, and cross-functional departments to ensure a seamless and high-performing support experience for clients across a variety of use cases.

What You'll Be Doing

Client-Facing Technical Support

  • Act as the first line of technical response for customer incidents in the delivery of effective resolutions for both hardware and software issues.

  • Troubleshoot efficiently, provide workarounds when necessary, and take full ownership of support tickets through to successful resolution.

  • Work to reduce customer downtime and maximise responsiveness.

  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure extended support coverage when needed.

System Configuration & Remote Operations

  • Lead the installation, configuration, and remote setup of digital platforms and physical equipment for new customer deployments.

  • Focus on increasing first-time resolution and reducing the need for on-site interventions through effective use of remote support tools.

  • Proactively perform remote diagnostics and implement preventative maintenance strategies to avoid recurring issues.

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain internal knowledge bases, technical documentation, and step-by-step support guides.

  • Collaborate with global teams and other business units to share insights and optimise incident tracking, reporting, and resolution processes.

  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical, tech-led improvements that enhance support operations.

What Our Client is Looking For

Background & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a hands-on technical support or system integration role.

  • A strong foundation in IT principles gained through a relevant degree or professional certification.

  • Solid understanding of modern IT environments, including client-server architecture and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Comfortable with both Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Hands-on experience working with vitalisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

  • Familiarity with databases such as MS SQL, including querying and basic data manipulation.

  • Exposure to Active Directory, firewalls, and security best practices.

Personal Qualities

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach technical issues with a logical, analytical mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical users.

  • Comfortable working independently and managing priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • A true team player with a proactive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
